Somehow, this change does not work

It's strange, but "thousands of pounds worth of damage" is a perfectly acceptable usage, but this variation seems odd.
You must anticipate this!
From a piece on a TV programme:
"XXX was billed as one of the most anticipated television moments of the year, but ... ended up leaving fans bewildered."
I don't think it is possible to bill an event as anticipated ...
